6 Months Old!!

Holy Cow - Tristan is six months old today!! I really can hardly believe it. He had his 6 month well-baby visit on Friday. Let's see... he was 16 lb 6.5 oz and 25 inches tall.

He's still on the small end (10th percentile for ht & 40th percentile for wt), but he's so much bigger to us! I notice the difference in his arms & legs the most... and in his hair! His hair isn't as red as it was when he was born - mostly a dark blonde now (with a tint of Auburn). And his "bald spot" on the back finally grew back in! He's got a nice new set of thick baby hair now.

Tristan's arms have grown so much this summer and he can reach anything these days (starting to get daddy's long arms)!! He's now rolling over both ways and can roll and scoot his way just about anywhere. He discovered his feet a few weeks ago, and then quickly figured out how to get his hinney up & flip over to his belly. Ever since then - he's mobile!! He's really good at scooting backwards & rolling sideways, but hasn't figured out forward yet! The world is his playground. He's got about a 5 foot floor span to navigate; so, we always have pillows and blankets set up to keep him confined to a safe space. He's working on getting on his knees to crawl - not sure if mom & dad are ready for that yet! He also jibber-jabbers a ton, started solid foods last week, walks around & pulls himself up with a little help, & he loves to do his baby sit-ups. He constantly does his little baby-crunch when you lay him down. He wants to sit up SO bad... it's very cute, and building great muscles. The boy has his own little baby 2-pack! Hmm... maybe I should try that.

Here's a pic of him eating solids with Daddy for the first time last Friday. Stuart is so excited - and has WAY too much fun laughing while Tristan tries to eat with the spoon. Apparently it's the best show in town!

Just keep trying daddy!

Until next time...

4 Month Pic

We missed the 3-month mark for Tristan's photos, but Rayleigh took some great pics of Tristan when he was just almost 4 months old. This is my favorite so far... it's one of the first pictures that actually capture his little spark!! Yeah, he's such a sweet baby : ) Don't know how we got so lucky to have such a perfect little cutie!

Tristan's on his Baby Blanket from "Wagga" (Grandma Dodi). And yes, it needed a good wash after the photo session... a baby can only stay naked for so long without needing a diaper! And yep, he peed on daddy too : )

4th of July!

We went to Bend for the 4th of July holiday weekend... and what an exciting trip it was!

Tristan took his first dip in a swimming pool in the afternoon, before all the fireworks began. We were hesitant at first cause he's still pretty little to be in the pool or in the sun... but we finally decided to give it a try. We found a floating baby-boat with a shaded canopy to put him in (gotta love Target!). It was for 9 month-olds, so we rigged it up with towels to prop him up securely. We didn't remember to get the swimmer diapers for his first trip, so we cut a couple leg holes in a gallon-size ziploc bag for his first little swimsuit (with some duct-tape wrapped around the waist for a belt). It was so funny... ah, the silly things parents do! The initial shock was a bit scary when his feet first hit the water going into the pool... but once he was situated, he was fine! He swam around with us in his little yellow boat for about an hour or so. We were so proud of him - way to go Tristan! Needless to say, the ziploc bag didn't hold forever. He got soaked and that diaper filled up like a 10 pound sausage. So, yes, we got swimmers to use for the next day.

Our Big, Little Swimmer!

We put him down for a nap an hour or so before the fireworks show. We thought he was going to sleep through it all - but he woke up for the show just as it started. He was SO excited to see the fireworks (after he finally found what we were all watching in the sky). He pooched out his cheeks, poked his chin forward and kept leaning further and further to see the huge sparks in the distant sky. Stuart had to hold him back from falling off the chair. It was SO cute!

Tristan's First Fireworks Show! "ooooh, oooohh, mmmm"

After the show, he even handled all the loud fireworks in the street. We were sure those big bangs would be too much for him... but he only cried when the fireworks made the popping, gun-shot like sounds. He was such a trooper! Chances are he'll turn out part pyro like his dad... oh well.
